New article on rtsguru.com by wayward. Excellent read I encourage all to go read it. In this article Wayward talks about The Order of Nations.

This week, say hello to the big baddies in End of Nations. Know thy enemy and all that nonsense, because The is big, bad, and ready to knock your face in.

But, enough talking about games that aren’t End of Nations! Let’s talk about the villains of this game, the Order of Nations, and all of their awesome weaponry that players will likely never control, including a tank as big as a building, and artillery that can fire across an entire continent.

Head on over to the End of Nation forum and let them know what you think about stealth units!

Stealth has been around for a while in most game genres, but I’ve noticed it more and more lately within the RTS genre and it’s almost in every RTS in some form or fashion. Is stealth a good thing or a bad thing? Does it take skill to use?

From my perspective I’m ok with stealth as long it’s not broken, which I’ve often seen in many RTS games. Usually it’s one of those things that just make good units great and can usually really only benefit those who are already winning. There have been a few times where stealth has been implemented correctly and actually improved gameplay by giving the player more balanced tactics to play with and in those circumstances it has worked quite well IMHO.

Check out the and how they use stealth and hit/run tactics to overcome thier enemies in the latest faction trailer for End of Nations.

Within most current RTS games you have a couple of playable factions, which the end result usually being something akin to the “good guys” and the “bad guys”. Is this ok? Do you enjoy playing as the bad guys? Why?

I’ve often found more of a fun factor when I A)Find a faction that works for me and B)Has something innovative about it. From most of my games this tends to be some of the more dark or evil factions. (Does that make me a bad person?) It’s either by some large creative decision to make the evil factions good at attacking hard and quick or it just so happens that most of the time in the RTS games I’ve played the evil faction ends up being a little bit better.

Now, I don’t sit at my desk and drink blood or hang out with thugs – but…

OK, so a little earlier, I wrote a pretty lengthy piece on how End of Nations is going to be handling character . Mostly, it was about what we didn’t know. Well, in an unexpected and very welcome turn of events,Senior Producer  has taken the time to set the record straight on this topic for us. Now, without further ado, here’s Chris on how this is all going to shake out for us later this year when we get our grubby little hands on their game:

Bigger guns, better blades, and epic armor: watching your character evolve is one of the more fun parts of any MMO game. Let’s take a look at how will work in End of Nations.

During the demo, he spent some time talking about the sweet flames he had on his tank, and a little bit about how your character will be progressing in the game. Also, about how the game world itself will evolve over time, but since we talked about that in excruciating detail last week, we’ll only touch on that briefly, and towards the end of the article.

Within the RTS genre, there have been games that use the same type of units for every playable faction and the only difference is color. Nowadays we are seeing more and more unique units and in some cases even having multiple factions that each have their own unique set of units. I’m going to go ahead and say it now, I have a love hate relationship with unique units.

Part of me really enjoys those games that have a lot of unique units per playable factions. What I like is that it makes every playable faction play a little differently and it potentially creates multiple unique strategies. I akin this scenario to the cereal isle in the grocery store. You have a lot of flavors and some of those cereals work really well together and the uniqueness of the multiple brands really helps them stand out among the rest.…

The in End of Nations is described as having the core values of “truth, freedom, and justice.” Of course, those virtues often need to be enforced with really big guns.
